Advocate, Krav Maga Practitioner, Bangalore
I have had my fair share of difficult situations on the street. My job often involves unforeseen risks simply because of the wide variety of situations and people that I come across. In this background, I constantly felt like something was holding me back from reaching my full potential. Certain experiences on the street and what I read in the crime section on the news had helped me retreat into a mental cocoon from which I was afraid to come out, even when necessary, lest my fear of becoming a victim of crime come true.

Fear is an undesirable emotion which is most likely to result in bad decisions. Yet it is an important tool for safety. However in the comforts of everyday routine, the tranquillity of the familiar and the security of repetition, we somewhere forget where to draw the line and cave into our emotions. Krav Maga helped me understand fear by developing a better understanding of myself and what I was capable of. Within the first few weeks of Franklin Joseph Krav Maga Bangalore training, my mind felt so strong that suddenly my height or lack of strength seemed inconsequential. The surge of confidence that I felt brought about a whole new sense of calm and security. In the process everything from the way I dealt with stressful situations at work to the time spent with loved ones improved. In summary, Krav Maga has brought a sense of inner peace and courage to my mind and more often than not, setbacks or stressful situations don’t seem that intimidating anymore.
Very recently, I was confronted with a situation involving some nasty people who were in an altercations with me, in the course of my job as a lawyer. Tempers were running high and threats were being directed at me and my clients (who happened to be family friends). Typically I would have frozen and messed up by lashing out. But I smiled at my opponents, asked them to calm down and diplomatically asserted our position. Not only did we reach a compromise but my opponents promised to get in touch with me in case they ever needed a lawyer. My confidence stemmed out of a sense of security and awareness which Guru Franklin Joseph and Krav Maga instilled in me during training. Not only was I confident of emerging victorious in a brawl, but I was confident of resolving the situation without conflict which is what ultimately happened. That is the beauty of Krav Maga!
On Franklin Joseph, Krav Maga Instructor
Training under Franklin Joseph Sir is an opportunity to truly understand one’s strengths and weaknesses. It is not just the manner in which he breaks down the science behind the techniques that makes him a unique teacher. It is the maturity and responsibility that he inculcates along with the techniques that truly makes Krav Maga, an attitude and a way of life beyond a mere self defence system. What I have personally grown to appreciate is his candidness about where I stand as his student.
He is specific in his observations and points out exactly what I need to work on. At the same time, he is never far away from offering encouraging words and commendations when he sees someone making progress. In the process one will grow to realise that his lessons are the result of a holistic approach to imparting training.
I consciously believe that a person is the best at what he does only if he can help others understand his discipline. On the other hand a person not fully an expert will make his discipline seem like Rocket Science. Frank Sir is one whose depth of knowledge and understanding translates into lessons which anyone with the right spirit can learn. I would strongly recommend his classes for anyone who is looking for the right teacher to help them not just to understand Krav Maga but to generally understand life.

Ashok is an cluster of amazement personality. He is a gem of a person, very soft spoken, warm and caring human being. Ashok went out of the way, hundred of time to help me, whether its a legal issues or personal issues. He along with chosen few has been a pillar of strength for me personally when the going gets tough in this business. Recently when I wanted to host a workshop, he went out of the way to help me out, contacting people and following up. He is constantly finding avenues to help Krav Maga grow and always encourages me to explore such new areas. As a Krav Maga fighter, he surprised me to the core. When you look at his face, he looks like a timid young man. When he starts to fight, he takes on this very different personality which is a force to recon with. He is a dedicated learner, asking questions to learn his tactics. It is simply a joy to be a Krav Maga teacher to such a fighter who never quits, no matter what. God Bless. — Franklin Joseph
