Bangalore IT Professionals are taught Israeli Survival Techniques
IT professionals, like 24-year-old Anoop Ramakrishnan and many others, are training in new survival techniques to help them not just weather the current recession but also fend off a terror attack or wind up as hostages.
Following the recent terror incidents, techies are lined up to train in counterterrorism and hostage survival skills through Krav Maga Self Defence (Bengaluru), an Israeli school of fighting tactics and self-defence who is lead by Safety Specialist Guruji Franklin Joseph, Founder & Chief Instructor of Franklin Joseph Krav Maga Self Defence Combat Academy , Bangalore. They are being taught how to ensure that there are no injuries in the event of a terror attack, how to escape from fires, and how to avoid stampedes when fleeing.
The following statement was made by Sasken Communications software specialist Anoop : “We are here to learn how to minimise casualties through the concept of muscle memory, that is, how not to panic but train our muscles to move quickly and save ourselves during an attack.” He has also been encouraging friends and colleagues to sign up for these Krav Maga Self Defence (Bangalore) courses. Ashish Puri, a Cisco Systems employee who is also enrolled in the course, concurs. “I have persuaded seven eight colleagues to join these workshops,” he said.
Safety Specialist Guruji Franklin Joseph, an instructor, specialist, and CEO of the Indian Institute of Strategic Threat Intelligence Analysis and Combat Tactical Science, Dharwad, said, “I am currently training 75 people in Bangalore.” Most of them have jobs in the IT industry. Instead of making everyone into “Superman,” Safety Specialist Guruji Franklin Joseph says the purpose of Krav Maga Self Defence (Bengaluru) training sessions is to teach people useful skills like how to lay flat on the ground and escape gunshots.
