“Women self defense is a joke, only looked upon as a demo or just some tip & tricks. Even though there are few people serious about the issue, but the knowledge about the subject are limited to few people and the myths of the self defense / martial arts blinds the common mass.” Safety Specialist Franklin Joseph.
Safety Specialist Franklin Joseph conducted a self defense workshop in a Women Safety Seminar organised by Bangalore Press Club coordinated by Ayesha Khanum and Chief guest was Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi and Joint Commissioner Ms. Roopa and Ms Rani Shetty, Coordinator Vanitha Sahayavani. BENGALURU: City Police Commissioner M N Reddi stated on Saturday that the police’s duty in protecting women’s safety is restricted to addressing the problem’s symptoms rather than its root cause.

He claimed that while crimes against women are a sign of the issue, they don’t fully capture it. “The involvement of the police in resolving the issue is restricted. We investigate the matter, file FIRs, and punish the offenders. We put in place safeguards against crimes against women. However, he claimed that the crimes are merely signs of a more serious issue.
What is the issue, then? The preconceived ideas that we are programmed to believe from an early age. According to Reddi, these stereotypes are the root cause of abusive behavior toward women. In some places, he claimed, “it is endemic and (stereotypes) are even encouraged.” “They are developed in childhood.” That’s where we ought to begin.
The police would always be on the lookout for anybody engaging in sexual abuse, he insisted. Because they are causing a nuisance in the community, we make sure to at least book them under the Karnataka Police Act. Their names are recorded in our register. Many people who are engaging in such behaviors for the first time are encouraged to keep going down that path if we don’t do this,” he stated. In addition to covering cases of violence against women, he urged the media to have in-depth conversations on the problem.
A Long Way to Go
Even though women have made significant progress in recent decades, discrimination still continues, according to D Roopa, Joint Commissioner of Police, City Armed Reserve.

When a guy is given a task and something goes wrong, the responsibility is typically placed on the situation. However, when a woman is involved, it appears that she is incapable of performing the job,” she stated.
For there to be a noticeable change, she said, open discussions about gender and gender awareness must go on. She went on to say that women have the responsibility to get out there and establish themselves.
The Franklin Joseph ‘Power To Women’ Corporate Self Defense Workshops with Psychological Women Empowerment on Warrior Leadership, Stress Resilience and Conflict Management Wellness Training included a Krav Maga Israeli Military self-defense class for the ladies who participated as well as a discussion on the laws pertaining to women’s safety and protection.
